I have only used this once, but I was pleasantly surprised about it’s power! And for such power, it is so quiet! I can now use my food processor while my daughter is napping (the only time I get anything done!) and not worry about waking her. The final product was very smooth and didn’t leave any chunks. If I have any problems after my next couple uses, I will be sure to update!

Definitely needs some paint and while I'm not fond of the lighter wood cabinets replacing them would be a bit of a headache.

It comes with everything you will need in the kitchen. They are also easy to use and understand.

I purchase the kit to make applesauce to can. I purchased a hand held fruit sieve. It took quite a while to put the fruit through it and then my arm hurt.

The next batch I used the kitchen aide attachment. It took only 1/4 of the time and my arm didn’t hurt. Loved it and will be using it again soon.

I bought the attachments for my mom’s Kitchen Aid Mixer. Recently her beloved Lawmachine ( a food processor) died, the thing was 15 years old. My mom had been quite concerned that these attachments might make a mess and may not be quite like her lawmachine.. However she no longer has that anymore. After using it to make zucchini bread she’s excited for the many other wonderful foods she’s going to make with the attachments. Can’t say enough about how awesome the mixer and the many attachments are!

For anyone with a KitchenAid Mixer this pack has all the necessary attachments for a much lower price than buying it separate

I really like this attachment. the reason i gave only 4 stars is because it seems like it’s not a complete set without the bigger food tray which is an additional $[...]. i bought that too, so now my set is complete. great value for the money though.

Wow! Just love this attachment. I have an older Kitchenaid stand mixer and bought the grinder attachment because we wanted to grind our own meats, beef, elk, venison and anything else. It works great, didn’t have any trouble grinding any meat, just keeps going and going. We ground 40 lbs of elk meat in no time at all. Of course, I just love the Kitchenaid mixer itself too, if this one ever goes kaput I will run out and buy another one.

  7. Rossitto says

I purchased this meat grinder attachment because I have decided to start using ground chicken in place of ground beef in most of my recipes. It’s hard to find ground chicken for whatever reason. The grinder is made of mostly plastic which worries me a little bit but I have tried it and it seems to work great. I suppose it’s a little bit easier than using one of the old aluminum ones-those can’t go in the dishwasher. With ground chicken I feel better with the ability to put the utensils in the dishwasher on the sanitize mode and most of the parts of this grinder are dishwasher safe-with the exception of the blade and the grinding discs. So far, it works good enough! I’m curious to see how well it works when it’s time for me to grind my figs for my Christmas cookies!

You may find yourself in a kitchen. You may find yourself surrounded by pork shoulders and fennel. You may say to yourself, “This is not my KitchenAid FGA Food Grinder Attachment!” You may ask yourself, “Why do I grind my own hamburger patties?”

Nah, I’m just kidding. This this is good. Here’s the thing, though:

    1. Grinding meat is the easy part. Prepping meat for grinding is the hard part. You leave sinews and crap in there, and it’s like, it’s not the grinder’s fault that you suck at your job.
    2. Freshly-ground meat is awesomer than you will ever know. How do I know this? I had a Flash-Forward into your future, and you’re dead. Also, I’m Nicholas Cage from that movie.
    3. This thing is durable, but don’t expect to be awesome at it at first. You think the guy who carved the Lincoln Memorial just banged that thing out? No, he made a bunch of tiny crappy ones that people made fun of. He had a pretty hard life. That’s how sausage is: full of suffering, but someday, maybe martin luther king will give you a speech.

So, you know, this thing isn’t professional-grade, and the stuffing in particular is a bit of a pain in the neck, but at least you aren’t being probed in the rear by aliens.

  9. Peltz says

It really is a savings on your grocery budget if you can grind your own meats. This is a good attachment for the Kitchen Aid. The only thing I can see that could be better are the holes in the grinder blade. They could stand to be a little bigger. As they are now, the meat tends to get mushy instead of grounded.

  10. Jerzak says

I was a little hesitant with the plastic looking outside, but all the insides are steel and the construction is solid. This attachment works exactly as described. Bought some prime top sirloins on sale at the HEB for 3.99/lb and made some killer ground beef sauteed with onions that my 2 year olds absolutely tore up. Also had some natural porkchops that are hard for the boys to chew, ground that up and pan seared them, the boys ate everything and were asking for more. I think this will also help them digest the food better. Made the wife and myself some meatballs that turned out fabulous. If you’re worried about cleanup, run an onion or carrot through at the end, I actually did both and used them in my meatballs. Fantastic.

I absolutely love my new ice cream maker attachment for my stand mixer. It’s sooo easy to use and came with some awesome recipes to try it out. I also found a few recipes on [...], one of my favorite websites. I have made mint chocolate chip and cookies and cream so far and llloooovvveeedd both of them. Very yummy. I love being able to utilize my stand mixer for more than just mixing. I also have the slicer attachment, food grinder attachment and the fruit/vegetable strainer attachment and love them all.

For starters, there’s a simple problem with this ice cream maker that should have been obvious to me before I purchased it. Ice cream that use ice and salt to freeze the batter get colder over time, allowing the ice cream to churn for a good while before the it is cold enough to be frozen. This product is at its coldest from the start. It will only get less cold from there. Your ice cream will freeze instantly when you pour it in the bowl and may cause the dasher to stop spinning almost immediately – even if you follow the directions by starting the dasher before you add the batter.

Furthermore, it’s almost impossible to make two batches in a row. The freezing bowl simply won’t be cold enough by the time the second batch starts. And you have to freeze it for 15 hours before you can use it again.

Getting past this immediate flaw, lets talk about everything else that’s wrong with it.

The dasher, as I mentioned, must be in motion when you pour the batter in. Unfortunately, its really difficult to get the batter into this bowl while its on the stand with the mixer in motion. I got batter all over my mixer, on the counter, everywhere. It needs a spout to pour the batter into from the side. No such accessory exists – and if it did, wouldn’t it be sort of ridiculous to have to buy accessories for your accessories?

The dasher is turned by a drive-assembly that does not attach to the pin of the mixer. Your just supposed to press it up onto the motor head where tiny rubber tabs on the side will hold it in place. This doesn’t work well at all. The drive-assembly doesn’t fit well onto the motor head, so it just pops off while the mixer is in motion, as soon as the batter offers any resistance – which it does immediately, because as I said, this mixer is as cold as it’s going to get from the moment you begin. You end up with batter that hasn’t churned properly and that is frozen solid to the sides of the bowl but is still liquid in the middle. Even if you can keep it spinning, the drive-assembly slips out of place and causes the dasher to turn at a bad angle, and also causes your mixer to make some really disturbing noises.

In the end, you end up with a big mess in your kitchen, ice cream that hasn’t expanded to its full size because it wasn’t churned properly, and the threat of damage to your very expensive mixer. I switched to this mixer from and ice and salt mixer because I figured it would be louder, cleaner, and less work. now I’m switching back to the ice and salt mixer because its just as loud as the noises this mixer makes while working, it works better, and I can make as many batches of ice cream I want in a single day as long as I have ice.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2TWV665BR0ZL5 For a long time I had debated between this and the Cuisinart ICE-30BC. Based on reviews, they both seemed to work really well, so I figured I couldn’t lose either way. This short video just gives you some perspective on how much freezer space you’ll need for the ice cream maker. I have a standard refrigerator, and I moved the KA attachment to the front of my freezer for the purposes of the video.

Here’s why I chose the KA attachment:
    - You’re going to have a bowl to freeze no matter what, so with this I save counter space
    - The KA attachment supposedly scrapes the sides better than the Cuisinart, meaning less ice cream wasted.
    - At the time, the KA was less expensive than the Cuisinart

I store my attachment in the back of the freezer where it’s coldest, and I let it freeze for ~24 hours before using. Be sure your ice cream mixture is cold before you start, otherwise it’ll never freeze. You can add pure vanilla extract or a tiny amount of vodka to keep your ice cream soft. Homemade ice cream tends to get rock hard once it’s set in the freezer, so if you use a tiny bit of alcohol, it’ll stay soft. Vodka is flavorless, and I’ve only ever needed to use 1 tablespoon per quart. I’ve used this for the past 2 summers, and thankfully I’ve never had a problem with blue gel leakage. I’m now unlimited in my choice of ice cream flavors! Oh yeah, I mostly drink soy milk, and I’ve never had problems using soy milk to make my ice cream.

I PURCHASED THIS ATTACHMENT FOR THE KITCHEN AID AS A GIFT. I HAVE NOT PERSONALLY USED IT. I DO KNOW THAT THE RECIPIENT HAS USED IT 3 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND LOVES IT. SAYS IT’S EASY TO USE.

  15. Lu says

I am a professional pastry chef, this was purchased for home use. I am not using the product incorrectly. Due to a fatal design flaw, the dasher stops churning the ice cream well before even a soft serve consistency is reached. That means you must freeze the ice cream before it is fully churned which creates large undesirable ice crystals. Furthermore, in spite of the “Hassle Free Guarantee” I was hassled for a good forty five minutes, told I was using it wrong and I didn’t know what I was talking about. Ultimately had to speak to two supervisors to return the product.

KitchenAid KSM150PSOB Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Onyx Black

This product is absolutely timeless. I don’t know how anyone manages cooking without one. There is no mixing task this machine can not handle. No kitchen should be without one of these.
